William Thomson holds a MSc (Distinction) in the Green Economy from the University of Bournemouth and a Masters in the Economics of Sustainability (Distinction) from Torrens University in Australia.

William has curated and chaired Scotland’s largest economics festival, the SCOTONOMICS Festival of Economics, in Dundee since 2023. William has interviewed 100s of economists and economic commentators as co-host of the SCOTONOMICS Podcast. He has written several briefing documents on topics including Austerity, Just Transition and Carbon Sequestration. His sector interests include the Meetings and Events Industry and Natural Capital. Willam writes a regular monthly column for The Scottish National in Scotland.
